GISB: 34 individuals remanded will be re-arrested according to SOSMA – KPN
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 34 individuals associated with GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) who have completed their remand period will be re-arrested under the Security Offenses (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the remand period for all 34 individuals ends today.
“Another 127 people were released on bail after completing their remand period and we advise them to come to the police if they need welfare support,” he said in a statement today.
Razarudin said the police had also obtained an extension of remand against 24 members of GISBH, including the organization’s top management, to assist investigations under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM) for four days starting tomorrow.
In addition, Razarudin said the results of the investigation found that GISBH’s business methods were facilitated by holding onto the organization’s version of Aurad Muhammadiah, which is based on bigotry and deifying leaders, thus distorting the true teachings of Islam.
He said the process was similar to indoctrination, which became the value of life and was believed and embraced wholeheartedly by GISBH followers.
“This doctrine is very dangerous to the security of the country, especially the teachings of Islam in this country and the welfare and future of the followers (GISBH) who are completely dependent on their leaders alone,” he said.
Commenting further, Razarudin said the results of a collaborative investigation with the Inland Revenue Board found that GISBH had never paid the tax it should have, and this was in line with the police’s investigation under the Income Tax Act 1967
In addition, the party also detected posts on Facebook that allegedly raised funds to help the children of affected GISBH members.
“The public is advised not to be deceived by the effort, which is believed to be an attempt to take advantage of this GISBH issue,” he said.
The police who implemented Op Global since September 11 have rescued 572 children and teenagers suspected of being victims of the company’s exploitation. Meanwhile, in Global Op Phase Four last Saturday, various types of books, documents, and pictures related to the teachings of Al-Arqam and GISBH were confiscated.
So far, more than 300 individuals, including GISBH’s top management, have been arrested.
In addition, Razarudin said a GISBH member will be charged in the Klang Sessions Court, Selangor, tomorrow for abusing children under the care of a charity home linked to the company.
“The man involved in the viral video about child abuse at the charity home will be charged tomorrow,” he said briefly to AGENCIES.
It is understood that the prosecution will be conducted in the said court at 8:45 am tomorrow in accordance with Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001.
On Sept 16, the police began an investigation after a one-minute-nine-second video recording went viral showing the boy in question moaning in pain, believed to have been caused by the suspect’s chest and neck being pressed with his knee.
The police have also identified the boy involved among the victims rescued through Op Global. Investigation found that the child had been separated from his father since 2021.
