Following a possible acid splash, Faisal Halim sustained injuries.

KUALA LUMPUR: After the nation was shocked by the story of Terengganu FC (TFC) winger Akhyar Rashid, who suffered a head injury after being beaten and robbed, it was taken aback today by the incident involving Selangor FC star player Faisal Halim, who suffered facial and body injuries that were thought to be caused by acid splashing.

The incident was confirmed by Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, the Chief of Selangor Police. He said that Faisal is receiving treatment at a Petaling Jaya private hospital and that his condition is now stable. He continued by saying that at 5:51 PM on Sunday, they got reports about the case from the general public.

“Petaling Jaya police received information from the public via the Emergency Response Services 999 call reporting that a national football player was splashed with a suspected acid liquid.

“The incident occurred while he was at a leading supermarket in the Kota Damansara area of Petaling Jaya,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He also urged members of the public with information about the case to contact the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to assist in the investigation.

As soon as word of the occurrence spread on Sunday afternoon, social media users started posting pictures of it. Most of them wish for the offender to be caught right away and brought to justice. Moreover, given that this is the second attack in three days, many are worried about the safety of national players.

Meanwhile, in a post on X platform, Minister of Youth and Sports Hannah Yeoh strongly condemned the act of violence against athletes.

“I strongly condemn violence against athletes. No violence in sports! “I urge @PDRMsia to take immediate action against the perpetrators,” she wrote. Meanwhile, Selangor FC, in a statement, reiterated their seriousness regarding the incident involving their winger, Faisal Halim, on Sunday afternoon.
According to them, they will cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and authorities to conduct a detailed investigation to identify those involved. In a statement on Sunday, Selangor FC called on supporters and football fans nationwide to provide moral support to Faisal and his family.

“Selangor FC calls on supporters and football fans across the country to pray for and provide moral support to Faisal Halim and his family and to respect his and his family’s privacy at this time,” according to the statement.
