Flood: JPN offers to replace identity documents without fines – Saifuddin
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Registration Department (NRD) is offering replacement services for identity documents such as identity cards and birth certificates without fines to flood victims.
Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said it was the commitment of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) in particular JPN to help the victims of the disaster.
“If flood victims do not have time to save identity documents such as birth certificates or MyKad (which are) lost, damaged or the like, immediately come to the NRD office to make a replacement after the flood is over.
“If anyone has been involved (in the flood) recently, inform the officials involved that you are (among) those involved in the flood,” he said through a video uploaded on his Facebook account today.
He also advised the public to always be aware of the weather conditions, especially ahead of the monsoon season, which usually hits the East Coast at the end of the year.
“Move (if instructed) on time and without delay. Cooperate (with the authorities) and always keep yourself and your family safe,” he said.
Saifuddin Nasution also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who announced the allocation of RM13 million for post-flood relief in Kedah, thus reflecting the Unity Government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the people beyond political boundaries.
In addition, he also expressed his condolences to the family of drowning victim Salmah Mat Zain, 46, and her son, Muhammad Rosman Rohaidi, 19, who were swept away by the strong current while wading through the flood in Padang Terap, Kedah, recently.
