Fake medical leave certificates sold for RM30-RM50 each

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have dismantled a fraud syndicate that was selling fake medical leave certificates for RM30 to RM50 each in the vicinity of Kajang last Friday.
According to the Chief of the Kajang District Police, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan, six local individuals were detained in a raid conducted by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Kajang District Police Headquarters. “Initial investigations found that the syndicate had been active for the past year, offering the sale of medical leave certificates around Kajang.
“As a result of the raid, the police also seized eight mobile phones, one laptop, five pendrives, six books of medical leave certificates, 171 government medical leave certificates, 70 private medical leave certificates, official clinic receipts, and other items,”

he said in a statement on Wednesday. Elaborating further, Mohd Zaid stated that all six suspects, comprising four women and two men aged between 26 and 51, are remanded until December 13 to assist in the investigation. In light of this, he advised the public, especially employers, to conduct checks and report any information regarding the sale of these medical leave certificates.
“The public and employers can contact the Kajang District Police hotline at 03-89114242 or contact the investigating officer, Inspector Tanaseelan V. Manogaran. “The case is being investingated under Section 420 of the Penal Code,” he said.
