Boy Killed, Three Injured In Motorcycle Crash In Philippines

MANILA, Jan 27 (NNN-PNA) – A seven-year-old boy was killed, after the motorcycle driven by his father, crashed into a concrete post in Batangas province, south of Manila, police said today.

The accident happened at around 8:30 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) last night, in Rosario town. Initial investigations showed the father lost control of the motorcycle, which hit the gutter and crashed into the roadside post.

The boy was a back rider along with his cousins, an 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, police said. The boy’s father and cousins sustained injuries.

Only one back rider is allowed on a motorcycle in the Philippines. But seeing more than one back rider on the streets is common, especially in provinces. For instance, it is common to see an infant sandwiched between the driving father and mother in the back.– NNN-PNA
