Bersatu Reorganises Party Structure Nationwide, Muhyiddin Confirms No Divisions Dissolved

KUALA LUMPUR — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has clarified that none of its party divisions have been dissolved, despite speculation arising after disciplinary action was taken against several party leaders.

Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the matter was discussed in detail during a meeting of the party’s Supreme Leadership Council (MPT), which reviewed reports and recommendations submitted by a special task force tasked with strengthening the party’s organisational structure.

Muhyiddin emphasised that the current initiative is aimed at restructuring and revitalising the party’s leadership at the divisional level rather than dismantling any divisions.

“There has been no dissolution of any division. What happened were resignations and disciplinary actions involving certain individuals that created vacancies within divisional leadership,” he said during a press conference after the meeting.

Special Task Force Leading Reorganisation Efforts

The restructuring process is being coordinated by a special task force comprising senior party figures Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The committee was formed to evaluate Bersatu’s organisational framework nationwide and propose improvements to strengthen the party’s leadership and operational efficiency.

Muhyiddin said the Supreme Leadership Council expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in reorganising the party’s structure.

He added that the restructuring exercise has also encouraged the return of several founding members who had previously stepped away from active roles within the party.

According to him, these individuals are now contributing again to reinforce Bersatu’s organisational strength.

Rebuilding Grassroots Leadership

Muhyiddin noted that the restructuring exercise is focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots leadership and ensuring that divisional organisations remain active and effective.

The return of founding members is seen as an important development that could help restore momentum within the party’s grassroots machinery.

“These individuals once played significant roles in establishing Bersatu and are now returning to contribute to the party’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure,” he said.

Their involvement is expected to help reinforce unity within the party while revitalising local leadership networks.

Greater Role for Youth Leaders

The party’s restructuring process is also intended to provide greater leadership opportunities for younger members within Bersatu.

Muhyiddin said members from the party’s youth wings — Armada and Srikandi — are being encouraged to take on more leadership responsibilities at the divisional level.

The move is part of the party’s effort to introduce new leadership talent while preparing the organisation for future political challenges.

By empowering younger leaders, Bersatu hopes to ensure continuity in leadership while attracting broader support from younger voters.

Leadership Vacancies Resulting From Disciplinary Actions

Muhyiddin explained that several divisions experienced leadership vacancies following resignations and disciplinary measures taken against certain members.

These developments prompted the party leadership to carry out a restructuring exercise to ensure that organisational functions continue to operate smoothly.

However, he reiterated that these changes should not be interpreted as divisions being dissolved.

Under Bersatu’s constitution, only the Supreme Leadership Council has the authority to dissolve a division, and no such decision has been made.

State Conventions to Discuss National Issues

In addition to restructuring the party organisation, Bersatu is preparing to organise a series of state-level conventions beginning in April.

These conventions will provide a platform for party members and leaders to discuss a range of national issues, including economic policy, education reforms and national development strategies.

Muhyiddin said the discussions are expected to contribute to the party’s policy development and political direction.

The conventions will also help strengthen communication between the party’s central leadership and its state and divisional branches.

Election Preparations Underway

As part of its preparations for upcoming elections, Bersatu has instructed all state and divisional leadership bodies to establish election committees.

These committees will oversee campaign preparations and coordinate political strategies at their respective levels.

Muhyiddin also directed divisions to establish “war rooms” to support election planning and strategic coordination.

The initiative aims to ensure that the party’s election machinery remains organised and ready for any upcoming state elections or the next general election.

Through these measures, Bersatu hopes to strengthen its internal structure while preparing for future political contests in Malaysia’s evolving political landscape.
