#AgongKita: Lontong, teh tarik ice Midway R&R Dusun Panti Sultan Ibrahim’s favorite breakfast
KOTA TINGGI: The concern and hospitality of the Yang Dipertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, towards the people of Johor cannot only be measured through the Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) program.
However, the touch of His Majesty’s personality towards his people can be felt by His Majesty’s presence in the entire state of Johor.
One of the locations, which is always a stopover for His Majesty, is the Dusun Panti Midway Treatment and Rest (R&R) area located on Jalan Jemaluang, Mersing, Kota Tinggi.
According to Midway R&R Dusun Panti Manager Norfaezah Md Borhan, 37, his eatery located in the middle of the road, which is the main link from Kota Tinggi to Mersing, became His Majesty’s stop on his way to the Flintstones Palace located in Mersing.
She said the first time His Royal Highness defiled this R&R visit was in November 2020.
“At that time, it was 11.30 in the morning, and at that time, it was only allowed to ‘dine-in’ at restaurants after the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. His Majesty ordered lontong and teh tarik, as well as some types of cakes that were available.
“Five days later, His Majesty came again. But the second time he came, the escort had informed us earlier, and we were always ready for His Majesty’s departure for breakfast.
“Sultan Ibrahim always arrives early, before 8 am. The menu he always orders is the same, which is lontong and teh tarik ice,” he said when we met here on Thursday.
According to Norfaezah, the departure of Sultan Ibrahim greatly helped the area to continue operating after being severely affected by the implementation of the MCO.
He said, His Majesty is friendly and friendly with the people, saying hello not only to traders but also to customers.
“His Majesty is friendly; he chats like normal, even though we are ordinary people. His Majesty asks if you are healthy or not. How is business? Is it okay or not?. After the time when your Majesty arrived just after the COVID-19 season, His Majesty did ask and care.
“Until now, if His Majesty goes to defame the royal family and stops here, he will definitely also ask for passion fruit. Is there passion fruit? If there is, we will present it; if not, we will say there is none.
“I once got an invitation to come to the Flintstones Castle to send passion fruit to His Majesty. That was the first time I was able to enter the castle, and I felt very lucky.
