Agong visits China, a new chapter in Malaysia-China diplomatic relations
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim’s visit to China on Sept 19 to 22 marked an important milestone in Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, which are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.
The Istana Negara, in a statement, informed that His Majesty’s visit is a new chapter in strengthening the close friendship between Malaysia and the Great Wall country.
According to the statement, Sultan Ibrahim said that the relationship with the republic brought various benefits to Malaysia over the past five decades.
“I hope this visit will also be the basis for strengthening friendship into the next decade.
“I am confident that there are various fields that can be explored together with the expertise available, including in the digital economy sector, green development, and industry,” His Majesty told the Royal Press Office (RPO).
His Majesty’s order was shared in a statement from the Istana Negara.
According to the statement, His Majesty is scheduled to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Li Qiang, followed by a meeting with President Xi Jinping.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will also go to the Beijing COMAC Civil Aircraft Technology Research Center to review the latest developments in China’s aviation technology.
Sultan Ibrahim is also scheduled to meet with the Malaysian diaspora in China and agreed to rename the Chair of Malay Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University in conjunction with His Majesty.
