AGC is investigating the proposed cancellation of the Black Hawk lease contract
JELEBU: The Attorney General’s Office (AGC) has provided feedback to the Ministry of Defense regarding the proposed cancellation of the Black Hawk helicopter lease contract for the Malaysian Army (TDM).
Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said his side would discuss further action at the ministry level.
“AGC gives all possibilities; if it is cancelled, how, If it is not cancelled, what should we do,” he told reporters after officiating the Jelebu Division UMNO Representative Meeting here today.
Also present was the Chairman of Negeri Sembilan UMNO Liaison, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias who is also the Head of UMNO Jelebu Division.
Mohamed Khaled was previously reported as saying his ministry is seeking feedback from the AGC regarding the proposed cancellation of the Black Hawk helicopter lease contract for TDM.
The media also reported that Army Commander Gen. Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan said TDM proposed the cancellation of the TDM Black Hawk helicopter lease contract to the Ministry of Defense, following the delay in the first delivery of the helicopter.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Khaled said the government has plans for peacekeeping forces in Lebanon if the conflict in the country escalates.
“We have a plan in case war conflict spreads in the country, which includes bringing our members home; however, it requires the approval of the United Nations (UN),” he said, adding more than 800 officers and members from the three branches of the ATM service that make up the Malbatt Battalion 850-11 carrying out peacekeeping and humanitarian missions in Lebanon.
