A carefully crafted full B License special transition program – Loke
SEREMBAN: The special transition program for full B license holders to Malaysian Driving License (LMM) class B1 and B2 holders was made after careful consideration of various factors.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the program is open to B1 and B2 license holders who have more than 10 years of experience and want to upgrade their license to a high-powered motorcycle but must comply with the prescribed conditions.
“The applicant must be free from any blacklist, arrears of summons, transaction restrictions, record of conviction for serious offenses or pending matters under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).
“Some ask for it to be done automatically but it is not possible; they have to go to a driving institute to undergo a two-hour course. Applicants need to be eligible to take this full B license,” he said here today.
He, who is also a Member of Parliament for Seremban, said this when met at the Tuanku Aishah Rohani Science Middle School Academic Excellence Award Ceremony and presented more than RM60,000 in aid to repair some of the school’s facilities and needs.
Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz also agreed to go to the event.
Commenting further, Loke said the ministry took into account experience rather than age because it was a practical and timely decision.
“Let’s say age is taken into account, but the applicant has no experience and has never taken a B2 license, it’s not appropriate either, so we take a more practical consideration based on how long they’ve taken a license,” he said.
The media yesterday reported that holders of LMM class B1 and B2 for 10 years and above are eligible to participate in a special transition program to obtain a full B license, starting this October 1.
Loke said the applicant must meet the prescribed conditions, including attending and passing the transition program and adaptation to motorcycle vehicles with a power of 500cc and above at the driving institute with a fee of RM160.
He said the applicant needs to undergo a practical riding program, safe driving information and information on the operation of powerful motorcycles for a period of two hours only.
