Government Expands TikTok Shop Live Hub to Strengthen Digital Marketing for Entrepreneurs
PUTRAJAYA — The government is planning to expand TikTok Shop Live Hub facilities to additional states as part of its efforts to strengthen digital entrepreneurship and help local businesses leverage online platforms to boost sales.
Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Steven Sim Chee Keong said four TikTok Shop Live Hub centres are currently operating in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Kelantan and Johor.
He explained that the ministry intends to establish additional hubs this year to provide easier access for entrepreneurs who want to utilise digital tools for marketing and sales.
Among the locations identified for new facilities are Penang and Kuantan in Pahang, while the existing hub in Sabah will also be expanded to accommodate the increasing number of entrepreneurs using the service.
According to Steven Sim, the initiative aims to ensure entrepreneurs across Malaysia have equal access to digital marketing infrastructure without needing to travel long distances.
He added that the long-term goal is for every state to eventually have at least one Live Hub facility.
“We want entrepreneurs from all states to be able to use these facilities without having to travel far to Kuala Lumpur. Ideally, every state should have its own Live Hub,” he said.
Steven Sim made the announcement during the launch of the TikTok Shop Bazar Raya 2026 event held at IOI City Mall in Putrajaya.
The minister said the Live Hub initiative provides various forms of support for entrepreneurs who wish to promote and sell products through live-streaming platforms.
The facilities include professional live-streaming studios, digital production equipment and training programmes aimed at improving entrepreneurs’ online marketing skills.
Participants will also receive guidance and mentorship to help them develop effective marketing strategies and produce engaging digital content.
Steven Sim highlighted the role played by TikTok through its e-commerce feature TikTok Shop in empowering local entrepreneurs.
Through various initiatives and training programmes organised through the platform, nearly 200,000 entrepreneurs have already received guidance on digital marketing and online business strategies.
This growing participation reflects the increasing interest among Malaysian entrepreneurs in embracing digital platforms to expand their businesses.
Steven Sim noted that digital platforms such as TikTok Shop allow small and medium enterprises to reach a wider audience while promoting their products in a more interactive manner.
Live-streaming sales strategies enable entrepreneurs to communicate directly with customers while demonstrating products in real time.
The minister also revealed that the initiative has already generated encouraging economic results.
So far, sales generated through programmes linked to TikTok Shop have reached approximately RM25 million.
This achievement demonstrates the significant potential of digital commerce in helping small businesses grow and remain competitive in today’s market.
Steven Sim said the government will continue strengthening Malaysia’s digital entrepreneurship ecosystem through partnerships with technology platforms and industry stakeholders.
He expressed confidence that expanding the TikTok Shop Live Hub network will provide more opportunities for entrepreneurs to scale their businesses using digital tools.
With better access to facilities, training and guidance, local entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from the growing digital economy and expand their reach to both domestic and international markets.
